Spontaneous formation and polymerization of CTAB/SDBS vesicles

摘要
The effects of mixed ratio and concentration on the spontaneous formation of vesicles in a cationic cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and anionic sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS) system were investigated. The effects of preparation method and aging time on the diameter of the vesicles were also studied. TEM technique was used to observe the shape of the vesicles, which showed a phenomenon of the aggregation and fusion between the vesicles. The result of Zetaplas also showed that the diameter of the vesicles increased with time. So, a polymerization method was used to enhance the stability of the vesicles and the results showed that the diameter of polymerized vesicles was less than the unpolymerized.
