摘要
A glut in the international sugar market makes the production of ethanol from sugarcane an extremely viable option. Bronzeoak Limited, a UK based company, saw an opportunity in the Philippines, a 100% fuel importer, for an integrated and dedicated sugarcane to ethanol plant, which has been designed for minimum carbon footprint. The plant produces ethanol and commercially exploitable carbon dioxide as well as co-generation of power. The use for all bi-products, including effluent, results in zero discharge. This and future projects of this nature in the Philippines will not only help Philippines reduce its oil import, but will also be a viable alternative for the sugar industry thus leading to its improved health. This paper describes and discusses the process followed in setting up the integrated plant in the Philippines.
