Metabolic conditions of displacement of abomasum in cows

The article presents significant associations between metabolic disturbances and left displacement of the abomasum after calving in cows. It describes the most important and currently relevant aspects of multifactorial etiology, pathogenesis, clinical and laboratory diagnosis, as well as directions of therapy and prophylaxis for these mutually connected health problems. It also shows a new systemic approach to the prevention of metabolic health problems in cows on dairy farms in some countries of the European Union. The paper presents a metabolic profile performed on dairy farms in the United Kingdom as a useful example for the prophylaxis of abomasal displacements in veterinary practice. The article contains a review of the literature related to this topic and published mainly in recent years.
