The glass industry in France

France is a major producer of glass products in Europe. Production is very diverse in terms of glass composition and use: soda-lime glass for tableware, construction, automotive and packaging, borosilicate glass for culinary arts, pharmaceutical packaging, laboratories, special glass for many different applications... The wide range of applications means that the glass industry has to comply with numerous regulations, both on the product and on the process. With a growing recycling rate and multiple options being studied to adapt the process to the fight against climate change, glass meets the challenges of our society and remains an innovative and modern material.
