摘要：

The role of IL-18 and of related cytokines and receptors of the IL-1 family has been examined in human SLF and in autoimmune lpr/lpr mice, and in the rare chronic inflammatory Schnitzler syndrome. IL-18 is significantly increased in serum of human paticuts and in lpr/lpr lymph nodes. In mouse lymphadenopathy, IL-18 appears to have a pathogenic role, while in other organs and in the human diseases it is a marker of disease and of its severity. Elevated IL-18 levels and efficacy of IL-1 inhibition strengthen the hypothesis that Schmitzler syndrome is an autoinflammatory disease.
