摘要:
This article proposes a reflection on the philosophical culture of Renaissance jurisprudence, based on a comparison between the concept of divine providence in Hugo Grotius's De veritate religionis christianae, and Francisco de Quevedo's Providencia de Dios, both published practically at the same time. The symmetry between both texts allows to discuss the existence of shared concepts in the divergent worldviews and ideologies of Catholic Spain and the Protestant Netherlands. This points out the connections within a Republic of Letters much wider than the political and religious conflicts of the age.
