摘要
Current and potential approaches to risk reduction and pollution prevention are reviewed with emphasis on the paradigms of exposure and emission reductions. It is suggested that a rationale approach to pollution prevention must begin with the appropriate classification of chemical waste, source characterization, and development of emission profiles and their interpretation from both a scientific and regulatory viewpoints. Given the various road blocks to pollution prevention, incentives are necessary to promote the development of effective pollution prevention strategies.
