Microwave dielectric properties of (Zn1/3Ta2/3)0.5(Ti1-xSnx)0.5O2 ceramics

Effect of structural characteristics on the dielectric properties of (Zn1/3Ta2/3)(0.5)(Ti1-xSnx)(0.5)O-2 (0.1 <= x <= 0.5) ceramics were investigated at microwave frequencies. The sintered specimens showed the solid solutions with the tetragonal rutile structure through the entire range of compositions. With the increase of SnO2 content, the dielectric constant (K) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (TCF) were decreased with the decrease of dielectric polarizabilites and oxygen octahedral distortion, respectively. However, the quality factor (Qf) of the sintered specimens was increased with SnO2 due to the reduction of Ti4+ ions and ordering of cations. (C) 2008 The Ceramic Society of Japan.
