摘要：

Analytic solutions of nonperiodic forms for a number of optical solitary waves that can propagate through an atomic medium that involve (i) resonant and (ii) nonresonant interaction of the electromagnetic field with the atoms are collected and presented in their explicit forms, and the possibilities of having similar and different waveforms are reviewed.
