Chemical Composition and Antimicrobial Activity of Marsdenia griffithii Hook. f. Essential Oil

摘要
The present study is the first investigation of the chemical composition and antimicrobial activitys of Marsdenia griffithii Hook. f. essential oils in China. The major component in essential oil was alpha-Pinene (17.5%), Linalool (14.1%), limonene (7.8%), dihydrocarveol (6.6%), terpinen-4-ol (3.6%), borneol (3.5%). A total of thirty-five compounds were identified, representing about 92.5% of the studied oil. The essential oil exhibited antibacterial activity against S. albus, B. subtilis, S. aureus, E. coli, S. typhi and P. aeruginosa according to the results of MIC. Among these bacteria, B. subtilis and S. aureus were the most sensitive to the investidgated oil, with the MIC values of 12.5 mu g/ml and 25 mu g/ml respectively.
