Digital watermarking for medical images

This paper presents a new approach for medical images watermarking, based on the Inverse Difference Pyramid (IDP) method The medical images are diagnosed before storing the image in the long-term storage, so the significant part of the image is already determined The significant part is called "Region Of Interest" (ROI), which must be preserved without lack of any information. In general, the ROI part is stored as it is, and the remaining part of the image is compressed with lossy compression algorithm. Specific for the method is that it permits applying of different watermark in every layer, and the owner inserts the watermark using his own password. ne embedded watermarks are invisible and could be visualized on request, using special software.
