Miniaturized Multi-Mode Resonator Bandpass Filter Based on Integrated Passive Device Technology

摘要
In this work, a miniaturized quintuple-mode resonator bandpass filter based on the silicon-based integrated passive device technology is proposed. The proposed quintuple-mode resonator bandpass filter is designed to achieve a wide bandwidth from 4 to 12 GHz and a very compact circuit size so as to meet the IF filter requirement of the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) Band-1 receiver. By using bridged-T coils to implement the multi-mode resonator, the circuit size can be largely reduced while the multi-mode property can remain intact. The measured in-band insertion loss is within 3.92 +/- 1.92 dB and the in-band group delay is within 195 +/- 51 ps from 4 to 12 GHz. Notably, the circuit size of proposed filter is only 2.25 mm x 2.52 mm, which is about 0.060 lambda(0) x 0.067 lambda(0) at the center frequency of 8 GHz.
