Ecological City Construction and Evaluation: A Case of Chengdu City

The city is a place for human existence and development. It is human responsibility to maintain and ensure virtuous cycles and sustainable development of ecosystem in cities. To build a eco-city has become the trend of urban construction. Based on the theory of urban complex ecosystem and learning from the researchers in and out of China, the paper tries to set up an eco-city index evaluation system, which has a total of 15 indexes in four-level. Then, the paper selects relevant statistical data in Chengdu, 2011. The evaluation result shows that the ecological index in Chengdu (2011) was 0.4928. Therefore, Chengdu should pay more attention to its ecological system construction, especially to its social and natural ecological development.
