The dispute about the headscarf in discourse-analytical perspectives

摘要
In September 2003 the < Bundesverfassungsgericht > ruled, that a Muslim teacher, who wears a head scarf in school, is making use of her fight of religious freedom. A discourse analysis of the debate, which focuses on the topics, modalities, concepts, and strategies, shows that the pedagogical concerns drew only few attention, while the religious-political question of the relation between the religion of the Christian majority and the religion of the Muslim minority was focused on. There was a broad consensus that Germany tries to avoid the French system of < laicite >, but the problem remains unresolved of how much religious pluralism German public schools can take.
