Development of Chinese E-government: Patterns and implications

The momentum for E-govenment adoption has grown in the last two decades, and its development in China has been accelerated since the beginning of 2000. However, hitherto, little research has been undertaken on this issue. This paper introduces a conceptual framework for F-government in terms of developmental process, drivers, constraints, and consequences in China. The Chinese government is committed to the development of E-government but has to overcome enormous barriers in implementing its plan. Research and practical implications have been discussed.
