Inclusive Education in Sindh: Policies and practices

摘要
The concept of Inclusive Education is not very old it is considered as a new concept in Sindh, Pakistan. The purpose of the current study was to explore the perceptions and views of public primary level school heads regarding policies and teaching practices of Inclusive Education in Sindh A descriptive survey was done and a self-designed close ended questionnaire was distributed among 20 school heads of Karachi, Sindh.A simple random sampling technique was used to select the schools and their heads for collection of data. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 21.0 version was used for analyzing of collected data.Descriptive and inferential tests were run for desired results and findings of the study. The findings of the study revealed that the heads of selected primary level schools were aware about the term Inclusive Education but their understanding about existing policy and practices related to Inclusive Education was not sufficient and was at a lower level. Furthermore, the study showed that workshops were not arranged for school heads that is why the school heads were also clear about policy and practices regarding Inclusive Education. The results of the study also indicate that majority of school heads had never undergone any training about Inclusive Education in Sindh. The study recommended that workshops and training programs should be arranged for school heads about concept and awareness of Inclusive Education and a comprehensive policy should be designed separately for Inclusive Education in Sindh, Pakistan.
