The learning of investigative journalism in the classroom requires solid praxis and the application of innovative techniques. In this area is located UNESCO and the Global Investigative Journals, CONNECTAS associations that promote the severity in the practice of investigative journalism. With the challenge set, it is decided in the subject Journalism Research of the Communication college career of the University Technical Particular of Loja, to apply validated techniques: from hypotheses UNESCO (2013) and the matrix on parts and master file CONNECTAS (2017). To answer the question: Is the application of these innovative global techniques adaptable to journalism works of proximity research? The methodology engaged combines methods or mixed designs with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The research is framed in two phases of experimentation: in the classroom using the inverted pyramid of data of the journalism model (compile, clean, context, combine) for curricular topics, and outside the classroom, are applied, techniques of investigative journalism from hypothesis and tracing (action research) through the matrix by parts and master file. The validation of results is done with triangulation by methods and by theory. A result, a linear and combined contrast of sources is obtained in seven stories of proximity and public interest. The journalistic deliveries are exhibited in multimedia repositories and with publication projection in local media.
