The Impact of New Trade Protectionism on China's High-tech Industry

The High-tech industry having the characteristics of strategic and external, is the focus of trade protection. China's high-tech industry is still in the low end of the industrial value chain, suffering double trade barriers. The trade barriers include the intellectual property measures, national security barriers, and the technical trade measures, quantitative restrictions. The new trade protectionism has negative impacts on China's high-tech industry export, investment and industrial upgrading along the industrial value chain. In order to cope with the impact of new trade protectionism on China's high-tech industry, our government should strengthen the cultivation of high-tech industries and enhance international competitiveness.
