Halochromism of acrylic fibres dyed with some cationic dyes

摘要：
Regular acrylic fibres were treated with hydrochloric acid so that all the sulphonic acid groups were present entirely in the acid form. These fibres were dyed under neutral conditions with cationic dyes, and halochromic colour changes were observed. The results are explained in terms of protonation of the treated fibre by the sulphonic acid groups. This is thought to occur in the chromogenic part of the dye molecule.
