Corporate Environmental Responsibility: the Case of SMEs in the Yangtze River Delta

摘要
The study employs a survey method for identifying factors to take environmental responsibility within Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Yangtze River Delta We uncover SMEs' views on motivations, the drivers and barriers to take corporate environmental responsibility (CER) and general perceptions on related issues Results show that the dominant driver for CER is government legislative policies, incentive-Based policies play an important role m the behavior of CER It is found that the major barriers to the implementation of CER are the cost of implementing environmental practices The survey also suggested that SMEs can gain a competitive advantage and create sustainable business by adopting environmental good practices
