摘要
Coastal areas are facing increasing pressures, mainly caused by the demographic boom, urban sprawl, development of agriculture, fisheries and industries, decline of renewable resources, loss of biological diversity, all potentially threatening the functional integrity of the coastal system. Integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) and Maritime spatial planning (MSP) seek to develop an integrated model for sustainable development that is based on finding points of convergence among these factors. ICZM and MSP are modern concepts, based on the sustainable development principle, which provide for the management and protected of coastal areas taking into account all aspects of maritime uses. The study focuses on identifying new methods for the elaboration of a set of indicators specific for the coastal zone, as sustainable tools for a comprehensive assessment of the Integrated coastal zone management in the Romanian coastal area.
