Treatment of locally advanced, basal cell carcinoma (BCC) by neoadjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy

BCC is usually controlled by surgery or radiation therapy [1, 2]. These treatments are not always effective or possible when the lesions are extensive (inoperable lesions, maiming surgery, dosimetric problems in radiotherapy, unacceptable cosmetic or functional results...). Furthermore, the tumor size is an important factor in the potential for local control [2]. Recent studies indicate promising results in using chemotherapy as a sole and neoadjuvant treatment of advanced BCC [3, 4]. We report two cases of locally advanced BCC treated by a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
