摘要
Scientific research, including that in the field of education, involves the conscious mastery and use of research methods, which includes the use of both theoretical and empirical methods of research. The aim of the present study is to characterize the essential features of both types of scientific research methods. For this purpose, the critical literature review and analytical-synthetic methods were used. The methods most frequently used in educational research and the need for their integrated use according to the objectives and nature of the problem and object studied in each case were delimited, concluding the need and importance of the use of both types of scientific methods to provide a scientific basis for research and contribute effectively and efficiently to the achievement of the proposed research results.
