摘要
The Cornell Center for materials Research (CCMR) Educational Outreach Office invites nine high school science teachers each summer to participate in Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program, at the Cornell University campus. This program is funded by the National Science Foundation. The teachers gets the opportunity to work with faculty and graduate students in a materials research laboratory. They become part of a research team, attending meetings, collecting data, and taking part in making new discoveries. The RET program provides teachers a better understanding of research and materials science, as well as an initial understanding of existing materials science research projects. They learn an important lesson about the research process, which is an ever-evolving process, with a lot of trial and error. This program allow teachers to have direct interaction with faculty and graduates, while participating in a hands-on activity related to material research.
