The quadratus lumborum and short leg syndrome: A case report

Numerous papers have been written about the chiropractic treatment of patients whose clinical findings include a marked leg deficiency. When a short leg is found on examination, it is easy for the treating practitioner to ignore the role of the muscular system and focus strictly on the abnormal spinal mechanics. This article addresses the treatment and favorable outcome of a patient with a significant leg deficiency accompanying his low back pain; it also discusses the necessity of diagnosing and rehabilitating the muscle shortening that was present in his quadratus lumborum muscle.
