摘要
This article presents the results of discussions on continuing education for teachers. Its objective was to reflect on the importance of continuous training and daily practices of basic education teachers at a public school in the Brazilian city of Maceio. The central question of the research is based on teachers' self-confidence and motivation in the exercise of their pedagogical functions. The methodology is based on qualitative research, supported by Ludke; Andre (2018), with a research-action approach based on Chizzotti (2017). The theoretical framework was based on discussions about continuing education for teachers, as well as the aspects of teachers' professional identity, backed by Freire (1996), Pimenta (1996), Silva; Pereira Mano (2018), Gatti (2019), and Falcao (2020), among other teacher education scholars. The results have shown the importance of continuing education for teachers, providing a closer view of the educational reality, as well as the teaching and learning process.
