High school students and body modifications - An exploratory study

The vast majority of Body Modifications supporters are teenagers. Objective: to characterize the profile of students from public high schools in the city of Sobral/CE/ Brazil who have body modifications. Methodology: exploratory research, quantitative approach, using questionnaires with multiple choice questions, with 20 students. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics. Among the participants, underage females prevailed; education attainment below the desired level; no participation in other (sub)cultural groups. MC can be considered a cultural text that exists in the textual network of the body culture, being suggestive theme for cultural studies in education.
