摘要
The topoisomerase family is a group of enzymes that orchestrate DNA topology and is required to uniform ge-netic makeup during replication, recombination, and transcription. Topoisomerase enzymes aid several DNA transactions through a complex series of DNA strand breaks and rejoining events, making them an important target for cancer treatment. Owing to its vital role in cellular processes, these enzymes are implicated as cellular targets for several therapeutically active anticancer agents. Metal complexes are more often used to inhibit topoisomerases. Metal complexes provide a three-dimensional framework exposing its functional groups that increase selectivity towards type I and type II topoisomerases. In this manner, biologically active ligands can have diverse biological activity and applications when complexed with active metals. This review focuses on the metal complexes that exhibit topoisomerase inhibition activity concerning their IC50 values.
