Performance Comparison of Reluctance-Based Synchronous Motors Consider for Electric Scooter

摘要
This paper performs the performance comparison between a SynRM and its three variations that changing the number of turns, the number of poles, and adding low-cost PM, i.e., ferrite. The comparison is conducted by finite element analysis (FEA). From these analyses, the trending of performance of reluctance-based synchronous motor consider for electric scooter is presented. Adding low-cost PM can increase torque and efficiency of motor at both low- and high-speed ranges while the changing of the number of turns or number of poles cannot well improve the motor performance. As a result, PMa-SynRM with low-cost PM is a good choice for the electric scooter application.
