摘要：

In a scientific article based on archival materials, problems in diplomatic relations between the Russian Empire and Great Britain in the first quarter of the 18th century are examined. A special place in the study is given to the Russian diplomat and plenipotentiary minister A.D. Cantemir, whose diplomatic art in many respects determined the development of Russian-British cooperation.
