Data acquisition and management system for environmental monitoring data

摘要
A four-tier system that integrates data collection, repository, analysis and presentation modules is proposed by the Nevada Center for Advanced Computational Methods (NCACM) for the Department of Air Quality Management (DAQM) at Clark County, Nevada. The implemented web-based environmental data acquisition system was designed to collect air quality data, such as monoxide (CO), ozone (O-3) and particulate matters (PM10), around Las Vegas valley. Since air pollutions have been a major concern for citizens around the Las Vegas area, air quality has been closely and continuously monitored for years. Critical issues such as dynamically adjusted data collection schedules through scattered monitoring stations arc discussed. The system also provides dynamic user role definition function that allows agency staffs and the pubic to access different depth of data and analysis tools. The system introduces an efficient object-oriented design to accommodate any module addition as well as system modification. By completion, the DAQM will provide the community around the Las Vegas valley with more responding environmental data and also strengthen its data analysis and model forecasting capabilities.
