摘要：

Data on the concns. of selected harmful substances in the air were taken from openly available data collected in a measurement database. The measurements provided 1-hour and daily values of concns. of selected toxic compds. in the air. The mean annual concns. of NOx, SO2, CO, PM10 and PM2.5 were oscillated in the range of 25.2-45.4, 4.6-9.8, 300-700, 25,1-40,9 and 18.1-46.3 mu g/m(3), resp. The main source of air pollution in Poland was the individual heating sector based on improperly operated solid fuel heating boilers. The activities performed so far to improve air quality in Poland did not significantly improve it.
