A simple design of FIR filters with signed power-of-two coefficients

摘要
This paper presents a simple design algorithm for the FIR filters with sum of power-of-two (SPT) coefficient. To minimize the calculation time, the design proposed here consists of three steps. After calculating the optimum infinite resolution coefficients, the algorithm looks for the upper and lower bounds of the discrete coefficients when using CSDC representation. In the second step, the algorithm find the optimum value for the gain A of the filter that preserves, as far as possible, a proportional relation between the coefficients of the infinite precision FIR filter and the SPT filters. The last step is to optimize the coefficients to fulfill the given specifications of the filter.
