摘要
Numerical simulations proved to be a very valuable tool for handling different problems dealing with production, testing and application of building materials. This holds true for the simulation of the concrete behaviour in a fresh, as well as in a hardened state; however, continuous modelling of concrete behaviour throughout the various stages of "concrete life" has yet to be developed. The need for such a numerical simulation is obvious. The mixing and placement of fresh concrete can have a significant effect on hardened concrete with regard to mechanical performance and durability, as well as other properties. This paper presents a numerical approach based on the Distinct Element Method (DEM) which is a means for continuous simulation of fresh concrete during the working and hardening process, as well as the subsequent behaviour of hardened concrete.
