The role of the social dialogue in promoting the economic sustainable development

Market economy, its effective functioning requires both social partners - trade unions and employers - action together with state power. Obviously, employers and employees have a convergent series of options, often co-occur, conflicts of interest arising from the radical different position they have in the work process. Social dialogue has now a more general character. It includes the traditional term of professional relationships, bipartite collective bargaining at enterprise level or branch of activity, as well as the relations between social partners and the state. It also includes the tripartite cooperation on labour market issues and takes place in tripartite enlarged structures. So, bipartism and tripartism are the pillars of social dialogue; bipartite relations (between social partners) are essential for tripartism to be effective.
