摘要
The main advantage of aluminum alloys is their high strength to weight ratio and therefore, these alloys are considered as a good choice for automotive applications and airframe structure manufacturing. However, commercial applications may be restricted by poor characteristics such as resistance to stress corrosion cracking, intergranular embrittlement and intergranular fracture. These characteristics depend strongly on the size and distribution of grain boundary precipitates, but also on the width of the precipitate zone. The quench rate in this respect is a very important processing parameter.
