To innovate chemical plant operation by applying advanced technology and management

Over the past ten years, we have seen fast pace of computer supported applications for improving operation of chemical plants. The applications range from data collections, DCS, advanced process control, real-time optimization, scheduling and planning to safety and operator training simulation. At Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC), we have implemented these technologies for improving our operations. Through these implementations, we have gained insight on the capability, limitation and new applications for these technologies. Here we will share some of our experiences on industrial applications, and discuss the needs for further research and collaborations between academics and industry in order to bring the next generation of relevant technology.
