摘要
Development and research on titanium alloys and processes were initiated at the Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials (BIAM) in 1956. A number of high temperature titanium alloys, high strength titanium alloys, titanium aluminides and cast titanium alloys have been successfully developed. The casting processes, particularly the Rammed Mold and Investment Casting Processes, have been fully developed. Large numbers of titanium alloy castings have been produced for the aeronautical and astronautical industry, the chemical industry and medical equipment. Since 1990 BIAM have made use of their advanced titanium alloy casting process to produce titanium alloy golf club heads. Hundreds of kinds of metal "woods" and irons have been developed, and about six hundred thousand golf club heads were produced last year. Now, BIAM has three Vacuum Skull Melting and Casting Furnaces which have a capacity of 80 to 150kg. BIAM has the most advanced technology, the largest scale production, and the highest quality of titanium alloy investment casting capabilities in China. The production capacity is one million pieces per year.
