Finite element study on the static strength of a cracked tubular T-joint

摘要
This paper is concerned with a finite element study on the effect of crack extent on the static strength of a tubular T-joint under axial tensile loading. Comparisons are made with experimental test results for a range of crack angles. Both the finite element and experimental results show that the strength reduction is approximately linearly dependent on the crack angle and the crack depth to chord thickness ratio.
