The leading role of engineers in assuring the medical-electrical equipment safety

The clinical medical engineers not only provide consultation and the maintenance service for medical-electrical equipments, including precautionary maintenance and training the owner or user, but also play a leading role in testing the safety and performance of medical-electrical equipments. The engineers are one of the most important personnel performing the national GB9706 series safety standard, and provide the most effective support for the life safety of the patients. This paper gives an emphasis on the safety concept centering on patients by presenting the examples of safety testing for 300/300A ventilator and SC9000 monitor manufactured by Siemens.
