摘要：
Data mining is an integration of multiple technologies. Data mining has many applications in a number of areas including marketing and sales, Web and E-commerce, medicine, law, and manufacturing and, more recently, in national and cyber security. In this paper, data mining is firstly introduced. Some classic data mining techniques utilized in the development are then introduced, such as the Markov model, SVMs, ANNs, ARM, the problem of classification, and image classification, which is an aspect of image mining. Thirdly, some critical data mining applications, such as data mining for cyber security applications, Web and multimedia, are outlined. Finally, some conclusions are given at the end of the paper.
