Revolution in the towns of Rio de la Plata Coast

This article analyzes the characteristics of the revolutionary process in the rural villages of the Rio de la Plata. It has three aims: firstly, it attempts to demonstrate that the struggles of some cities to become heads of state agencies involved not only a confrontation with the government but it also introduced the challenge to find a way to give representation to the peoples and rural populations and to resist their pretension to sovereignity. Secondly, it aims at showing that wars in this space involved not just a confrontation between two sides but also a series of struggles for the support and the government of these peoples; and finally, that these confrontations brought to the political antagonisms specific ethnic and social profiles which expressed tensions both old and new.
