摘要：

The objective was to identify in the literature the main basic health indicators used in primary care, and their importance for the improvement of health services, a bibliographic search was carried out in the BIREME database, based on the crossing of the descriptors (DECS) "basic indicators health" and "primary care", the search period was concentrated between 2015 and 2020. The analysis of the works was based on the identification and grouping of basic health indicators in categories according to their purposes and characteristics. The results obtained allowed a broad evaluation of the effectiveness of programs, the procceding of professionals, the impact of the actions taken and a self-assessment by the managers. The study also showed how the use of health indicators helps in the process of management and quality assurance in primary care, since they make it possible to perform a situational diagnosis.
