Effect of proton irradiation on the resistance in Tl2Ba2CaCu2O8 Josephson junctions and thin films

The effect of 2 MeV proton irradiation on the bulk onset transition temperature T-c, the bulk resistivity and the resistance of bicrystal Josephson junctions fabricated from Tl2Ca2BaCu2O8 is reported. Each of the measured parameters are found to vary nearly linearly with proton fluence. This is the first time a correlation between junction resistance and bulk T-c has been reported in the cuprate superconductors. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
