The problem of using audio-visual materials in teaching Russian as a foreign language is considered in this article. As we know, listening is recognized as one of the most difficult types of speech activity, because in a real dialogue you should understand the text at first sight. There is a number of other objective obstacles to understanding speech from the first presentation, which include the individual characteristics of the source of speech, such as the rate of speech, tone of voice, diction and articulation. As practice shows, the use of fragments from Russian movies, cartoons, TV shows, news, commercials make lessons more interesting and lively. Foreign students in real-life situations are involved. Students are introduced to the Russian reality, culture, national features of construction and operation language.
