Application of ELISA tests for the detection of goat milk in sheep milk

This paper describes the application of enzyme immunoassay (ELISA tests - RIDASCREEN (R) GIS) for the detection of the lab-prepared adulteration of sheep milk with goat milk. The analyses were focused on laboratory testing and evaluation of quality parameters of the ELISA tests. By using of the laboratory testing of specificity and sensitivity of the ELISA tests applied it was found out that the quality of adulterated milk detection is being impacted by a standard curve with a specific detection range. It was found that heat treatment of milk (71.7 - 77 degrees C for 20 sec.) had an influence on identification of the adulteration. The samples pasteurized in different combinations gave lower optical density responses than those prepared from the raw milk.
