摘要：
An ad hoc network is, a multi-hop wireless network dynamically formed by a collection of mobile nodes without the intervention of fixed infrastructure. Limited bandwidth, constrained power, and mobility of network hosts make the multicast protocol design extremely challenging. This article provides an overview of existing multicast routing protocols designed for ad hoc networks by presenting their characteristics, then presents a detailed comparison and discussion of their respective merits and drawbacks, and lastly points out possible directions of future research.
