Transmission and reflection factors of eigenmodes in a planar dielectric waveguide calculated in the presence of nearby external objects

The scattering of the fundamental mode of a planar dielectric waveguide from an object located near the waveguide is considered. The problem is solved independently using the pattern equation method and the volume integral equation method. Numerical and analytical (asymptotic) solutions are obtained. Calculations are performed for dielectric and perfectly conducting bodies of different geometries.
