摘要
When network has a long-lasting burst traffic, a lot of packets are dropped at the node of bottleneck. All TCP connections that are passing through the bottleneck node suffer again from the well-known problem of the conventional congestion control. Those problems are phase effect and unfairness to long RTT packet. It's because the conventional congestion control algorithm can not properly do the congestion control for the long-lasting burst traffic if the buffers in bottleneck nodes are not sufficiently large. This paper presents the improved congestion control algorithm that can improve fairness for long RTT packet, and can prevent traffic from being excessively overflowed into severely congested network. By modifying and enforcing the sender's timer function of the conventional congestion control, our algorithm can regulate and adapt TCP sender to the long-lasting burst traffic in severely congested network. We also report the effect of the improved congestion control by simulations.
