An Overview of Rare Breast Neoplasms with Radiologic-Pathologic Correlation

Purpose of Review This manuscript reviews rare breast malignant neoplasms and their associated imaging and pathologic findings. Findings The paper provides an organized framework to facilitate the radiologic-pathologic correlation process of less-common neoplasms found in the breast. Specifically, the imaging and pathologic findings of metaplastic carcinoma, phyllodes tumor, primary breast sarcoma, breast leukemia, breast lymphoma, and metastases to the breast from extramammary solid primary tumors are reviewed. An emphasis is made on the common trends, which are not pathognomonic, but may raise the level of suspicion for these kinds of neoplasms and guide timely, appropriate management.
